It should have been a secret. U2 were coming to Portugal and no one really knew. Even Universal Portugal wasn't aware of their visit and the media had no clue. During wednesday a small rumour started when a group of Spanish fans visiting Dublin heard that U2 would visit France, Spain and Portugal.

An Interference reader has written in to let fans know that "the U2 contact proof sheets and Virgin Prunes contract from the 1978 U2 archive recently listed on eBay have been relisted separately with no reserve. The demo tape and lyric sheets were sold privately to a collector."

Of the 1978 contact sheets, the seller states:
“Two original contract proofs of an early promotional photo shoot with the band U2, circa 1978-9, featuring 64 separate photographic images of the band members posing individually and together, with several marked as selects. It is uncertain whether any these images have been published, or who is the photographer of record, but the outfits, instruments and age of the band are consistent with other contemporary promotional images reproduced in Bill Graham’s U2: The Early Days, and other sources.”

Der österreichische Musikpreis ("Amadeus Awards") findet am 28. April zum fünten Mal statt.

Dieses Jahr sind in der Kategorie "Musik-DVD des Jahres" auch U2 mit der "Go Home - Live From Slane Castle, Ireland" DVD nominiert. Ebenfalls in dieser Kategorie finden sich Herbert Grönemeyer, 2x Robbie Williams und Shania Twain. Die Nominierten ergeben sich aus der Jahreswertung der offiziellen Ö3 Austria Top 40-Verkaufscharts.

Der Gewinner des Awards wird von der Amadeus-Jury gewählt. Die Preisverleihung wird am 29. April auf ORF1 sowie am 28. April als Internet Live Stream übertragen.

u2tour.de: Bereits vor gut einem Jahr (Newsmeldung) berichteten wir über eine für September 2004 anstehende U2-Buch-Veröffentlichung, U2 Show (Cover) von Diana Scrimgeour.

Die Autorin hat uns nun weitere Details zum Buch verraten: Das Buch deckt die komplette Tourgeschichte von 1979 bis heute ab und wurde komplett von der Band authorisiert, was auch den Vorteil hatte, dass sie praktisch uneingeschränkten Zugriff auf das Fotoarchiv der Band in Dublin hatte.

Das Werk wird voraussichtlich 200 Fotoseiten und 100 Seiten Text umfassen, der aus Interviews mit Menschen besteht, die in U2s Karriere direkt involviert waren und somit nahe Begleiter der Band waren.

Die insgesamt rund 50 Interviews werden durch Fotos illustriert, die sowohl vor als auch hinter der Bühne entstanden. Die Auswahl fand unter Mithilfe von Showdesigner Willie Williams statt, der zu vielen Kapiteln auch einleitende Worte beitrug.

Alles in allem erwartet uns also schon vor der Veröffentlichung der offiziellen U2-Biographie, die für 2005 geplant ist, ein tolles U2-Buch mit wahrscheinlich vielen ungesehenen Bildern. Kostenpunkt sind rund 25 britische Pfund.
