Elevation USA, the band that seeks to “recreate the total U2 concert experience in both sight and sound” in their performances, will head to the Ontario Convention Center on Sunday, October 10th, to take part in the first ever Los Angeles U2 fan celebration.

Sponsored by Interference.com, “This is the first ever U2 fan celebration in Los Angeles,” said Amita Patel, OVCB’s director of sales and marketing. “I am thrilled that this celebration will take place right here at the Convention Center.” The scheduled events for the U2 fan celebration at the Ontario Convention Center include not only the live Elevation USA performance, but also all-day video shows, door prizes (including autographed copies of Carter Alan's book), trivia contests, freebie tables by Bags Unlimited and Goldmine magazine and live unplugged band karaoke with the L.A. U2 tribute band Joshua Tree. [arrow more]

msn.com: The Who once sang, “I hope I die before I get old,” and for most of us, the feeling is mutual. We’d rather our favorite groups give up the ghost than age ungracefully. U2 refuses to do either.

“[The album is] driven by a guitar player who is sick of the sight of me shaking hands with dodgy politicians,” Bono recently told a British paper. “The anger is unbelievable.” Believe it: His better-with-age vocals snap and crackle on the anthemic first single “Vertigo,” and the band sounds leaner—and louder—than ever. usatoday.com: Without a note yet heard by the public, upcoming albums by U2, Eminem and Destiny's Child are expected to top the chart, reap fat holiday sales and drive traffic into stores.

"There isn't really any doubt about those three," says Alan Light, editor of music magazine Tracks. "At this point, I'm loath to say anyone is guaranteed a million-selling first week, given the way the world is, but Eminem is as much a lock for that as exists anywhere. And the others are big records that have been long anticipated and well set up. These are people who are not following fluke hits. They consistently deliver the goods." [arrow more]
