u2.com: U2 will begin a ten month world tour on March 1st in the US, manager Paul McGuinness has told U2.Com.

The band are set to play 115 shows beginning in Florida in the Spring, reaching Europe in June, heading back to North America in the Autumn before finishing up in Japan and Australia in November and December.

In an interview with U2.Com, Paul McGuinness revealed that two different productions were underway for the tour as it would open indoors in the US and then play outdoors through the summer in Europe. ‘Willie Williams and Mark Fisher are already at work on designing the shows.’

Some dates and venues are still being finalized - no official announcement will be made until the New Year. [arrow more]

The group's 2001 tour grossed 56 million pounds ($104 million) from 106 shows worldwide, according to Billboard Boxscore. The top gross was 3.4 million pounds ($6.4 million) from four sellouts at Chicago's United Centre. [arrow more]

billboard.com: Look for U2 to start its world tour on March 1 in Florida in support of its new Interscope album, "How To Dismantle an Atomic Bomb," the band's manager Paul McGuinness tells Billboard.

"We'll play approximately 35 shows in the arenas in the spring in the U.S., McGuinness says. U2 will then play 30 stadium shows across Europe, return to North America for another 35-date arena swing and the proceed to Japan and Australia. [arrow more]

U2 manager Paul McGuinness today confirmed that the band will set out on a major tour next year but urged the band's fans not to part with any money for concert tickets until the tour details are confirmed.

"We are still very much in the planning stages of our tour for next year which will visit the US, Canada, Europe, Japan and Australia, and the band is really looking forward to getting out on the road."
